The State in former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s case has decided not to add another accused.
The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court postponed Mapisa-Nqakula’s criminal matter to July 9 when an indictment will be served.
The State intends to enrol the matter in the High Court.
Mapisa-Nqakula is accused of soliciting R4 million in bribes from a defence contractor during her tenure as Defence Minister.
She faces 12 counts of corruption and one of money laundering.
During her last court appearance, she was granted bail of R50 000 with conditions including relinquishing her passport.
Independent Directorate Spokesperson, Henry Mamothame says, “After engaging further with the evidence that was before us, remember this person was only going to be charged with one count of money laundering, so after careful conversation, the investigating directorate decided not to pursue this person further.”
