DSTV Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, have made it official – the Brazilians and Coach of the Season, Rhulani Mokwena, have parted ways.
Sundowns have had a relatively successful season winning a record seventh Premiership title as well as the Inaugural Africa Football League (AFL).
But Mokwena was released taking into account the club’s objectives and expectations.
He was apparently expected to win at least two domestic cup competitions and the CAF Champions League in addition to the premiership title.
The club says the decision was not influenced by any individual associated with the club.

Meanwhile, Sundowns’ supporters have expressed mixed feelings about Mokwena’s departure from the club.
They have warned that Mokwena’s dismissal could spell trouble for the defending champions in the upcoming season.
But others have welcomed his departure, saying the new coach will bring fresh ideas and new tactics to win the elusive Champions League Cup.
Mokwena’s successor is yet to be announced. In the meantime, Manqoba Mngqithi has been appointed as the interim coach.

Exactly, Sundowns is putting more money in the club to improve but if the coach fails to achieve the objectives, he must go

Greater heights 🤔🤔🤔🤔never! Losing to Esperance at Loftus was heartbreaking for me . After that game I said to myself this guy won’t finish his term at Sundowns

The @coach_rulani thing has hurt me so much. We can’t normalise black SAn coaches who have done so well for us leave under such animosity. The court battle with @TheRealPitso , now this? There’s nothing to celebrate here. 💔😞
