176 000 additional addresses were included on the voters roll during this election. Chief Electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo, says a lower voter turnout was nonetheless expected ahead of this election. He says therefore people must be responsible in their criticism. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday evening, Mamabolo said the new Voter Management Devices have allowed the IEC to meet the Constitutional Court injunction that voters vote in the wards in which they are registered, and that voters must have an address.
