The case against a Gauteng nurse arrested for allegedly orchestrating the death of her domestic worker to claim R6-million in life insurances has been adjourned to next week.

Sithembile Xulu has appeared alongside her garden worker and co-accused Simon Mogale in the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court south of Johannesburg.

They are facing three counts of fraud, one of murder and of defeating the ends of justice.

The pair are accused of the murder of 21-year-old Busiswa Nxumalo, whose body was found at a dump site in Lenasia south, in January 2022.

She had been stabbed to death. During her bail hearing, Xulu pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.

She insists that she committed no offence.

The case has been adjourned to Wednesday next week where the pair will continue with the formal bail application.

They have been remanded in custody pending their next court appearance.
