#HOPE4SA calls for speedy resolution of election results disputes

Reading Time: 2 minutes

HOPE4SA’s leaders say the Electoral Commission needs to extend the time for the submission of complaints against the capturing of results from some voting stations across the country.

“At this point, we’d like the IEC to say they will still take complaints (because) there was a short cutoff. I believe it cannot be left. SA is burning and we have issues,” says HOPE4SA national secretary Dianne Kruger.

Kruger further added: “I think there’s a lot of discrepancies, unfortunately at this stage around the results. A lot of the parties are discovering that there are things to be queried and unfortunately, the IEC closed at 9pm for us to put in queries. We are actually contesting that at this stage. It’s sad that there seems to be that many discrepancies,” she said.

HOPE4SA also says despite these discrepancies, it is proud of the party’s performance in this year’s general elections.

HOPE4SA was launched three months ago and participated.

The party, which campaigned on the hope and the promise of change in South Africa’s political landscape, has so far garnered just above 26 000 (0.17 percent) of the national vote.

Kruger highlighted that the party’s only desire is to serve the country’s citizens.
