Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Mpumalanga is calling for the removal of the newly appointed provincial Education MEC Cathy Dlamini. The party is accusing Dlamini of corruption barely two weeks into office.

Provincial EFF Deputy Secretary Ntsako Mkhabela says Dlamini instructed senior officials in her department to cancel all the contracts entered into before her arrival.

Mkhabela says they will request Premier Mandla Ndlovu to take action against Dlamini. The party also intends to report Dlamini to the Office of the Public Protector.

Mkhabela says they warned the premier not to appoint delinquent people.

“We highlighted that to the Premier and the executive that they must make sure that they do not interfere with the administration and stay away from the administration because this thing makes the work of the department or government suffer and not go as smoothly as we expect it to be. So, we are going to write to the premier of the province to request him to remove the MEC of Education with immediate effect and are also going to write to the Public Protector.”
