Electricity and Energy Deputy Minister Samantha Graham says having access to information on Eskom will help them resolve the country’s energy crisis and ensure that there is no corruption.

She spoke to SABC News in Cape Town ahead of a swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed Cabinet members.

The power utility has in the past blamed its problems on sabotage and theft of coal by organised gangs.

Graham is joining Electricity and Energy Minister Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa who has been reappointed to his position.

Graham says she is looking forward to working with Ramokgopa.

“I’ve always had respect for Dr. Ramokgopa and certainly he has proven himself irrespective of what we’ve called him out on. He has proven himself, we are nearing 100 days without load shedding and there’s no indication that there’s anything nefarious.”

“When we’ve got the information we need, it makes it so much easier for us to understand what’s happening to do the oversight that is required, to ensure there’s proper accountability and ensure that there’s no corruption happening,” Graham adds.
