Final send off for yet another GBV victim in the Free State

Friends and family have gathered to bid their final goodbyes to yet another gender-based violence (GBV) victim in Bloemfontein in the Free State. 

Thirty-five-year-old Bongiwe Phulampa was stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend two weeks ago.

The funeral service is underway at Vulamasango High School in Rocklands.

Phulampa was stabbed multiple times when she returned from attending a church service on Sunday, June 23.

The incident happened at her family home where she reportedly lived with her 39-year-old boyfriend, Siphiwe Masithela, who has since been arrested.

Mpho Moalosi

In another GBV incident in Bloemfontein last week, a teacher from Tsoseletso High School, Mpho Moalosi, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Steven Sejakane, who drove over her multiple times with a car.

Her body was found on the R702 road near the Mangaung Prison.

Her car was found at her boyfriend’s house where he had been hiding under the bed.

Moalosi was reported missing by her brother over a week ago after he could not find her in the house.
