Former African National Congress (ANC) President Thabo Mbeki has described the late former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Lindiwe Mabuza as a person who had an outstanding capacity to organise people in the party.

Mbeki was speaking at Mabuza’s funeral service in Soweto, Johannesburg.

President Cyril Ramaphosa accorded Mabuza a special provincial funeral.

She died on December 6.

Mabuza held several diplomatic positions in various countries.

Mbeki says Mabuza was also committed to feminism.

“At some point, she edited a magazine of the ANC women’s section, the ANC section in exile, the Voice of Women and added quality and content to that very important journal, the Voice of Women. Wherever she served, whether in Sweden and Scandinavia, the US or Germany, Malaysia and everywhere else, she always managed to organise people,” says Mbeki.

Mbeki pays tribute to Mabuza:

‘Fine cultural acivist’

Meanwhile, a few days after her passing, International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor described the late Mabuza as an illustrious diplomat and fine cultural activist.

Pandor says South Africa has lost an impeccable representative, cultural activist and freedom fighter.
