The Hawks say more arrests in connection to the VBS scandal are imminent. Three former Gauteng municipal executives appeared briefly at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in connection with the ongoing VBS probe.

All three accused were released on R50 000 bail each. The case was postponed to 22 October, provisionally for pre-trial preparations.

All three accused were previously employed by the West Rand District Municipality.

They are former Municipal Manager, Moroashike Mokoena, former Chief Financial Officer, Mzwandile Mkhize, and former Manager for Income and Expenditure, Romeo Mohaudi. They appeared on charges relating to the Contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act and the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

The three were arrested early Monday morning. Part of their bail conditions is to have no contact with any witnesses linked to the VBS probe.

Hawks Spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, says the probe is ongoing and the arrests are imminent.
