A businessman and his bodyguard have been shot and wounded at Mogaung in the Sekhukhune district in Limpopo. Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says gunmen in another car sprayed the businessman’s vehicle with bullets.

According to the police the attackers fled when the businessman’s body guard returned fire.

Ledwaba says they have opened two counts of attempted murder.

“The businessman was therefore shot on the arm and his bodyguard alighted from the vehicle and fired several shots back at the suspects. He therefore suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the process. The suspects fled the scene without taking anything from the victims. The injured victims were transported to the hospital for immediate medical attention,” says Ledwaba.

In a separate incident, a five-year-old boy has been wounded after being hit by a stray bullet while asleep in Musina, Limpopo.

Police say the stray bullet penetrated through the roof and hit the boy who had fallen asleep in the sitting room while watching TV.

Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says they’re investigating a case of attempted murder.

“According to preliminary investigations, the bullet is believed to have been fired from an unknown location. The child fell asleep while watching TV, and his elder brother discovered he was shot when he went to fetch him. He then woke up their grandmother, and the child was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment,” explains Ledwaba.
